Ashapura mataji
Ashapura Mata Ji Temple is ranked as one of the most significant Shakti temples in the Mewar area, and it is consecrated to Goddess Ashapura,
who is the Kuldevi (royal family deity) of the Sisodia Rajputs of Mewar. The Adoration of Ashapura Mata is believed to have started around the
9th-10th century, with the early evolution of the Sisodia dynasty.
As per tradition, the building of the temple was done by the early Sisodia rulers of Mewar, who after having the deity’s blessings of victory and
protection, adopted Ashapura Mata as their defender deity. While precise historical documents are scant, the shrine continued to grow due to
the support of royalty and the constant devotion of Rajput clans and local communities. Gradually, the Ashapura Mata Ji Temple became a
major spiritual hub that not only drew worshippers wanting strength, wealth, and wishes to be granted but also enabled tourists to grasp the
profound bond between Mewar’s sovereigns and their faith.
