Bohra Ganeshji
Bohra Ganesh Ji Temple is one of the oldest and most respected Ganesh temples in Udaipur, located near the old city area. The temple is believed to be over 350
years old and is deeply connected with the traditions of the Mewar royal family, who considered Lord Ganesh the remover of obstacles before beginning
any important work. According to historical beliefs, the temple was established in the 14th century, even before the foundation of Udaipur city in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II.
The temple holds special importance because it is believed that Maharana Udai Singh II worshipped Lord Ganesh here before laying the foundation of Udaipur, making it the first temple associated with the city’s origin.
The name “Bohra Ganeshji” is linked to the Bohra community, which played a role in the temple’s early patronage and upkeep.
The temple is especially famous for its unique idol of Lord Ganesh with a child-like form, which is rare and highly revered by devotees. Locals often visit
Bohra Ganesh Ji before weddings, new ventures, or exams. Tourists come here to experience the strong local faith, peaceful spiritual environment, and to
witness an important part of Udaipur’s religious culture
