Shri Nath Ji, Nathdwara
Shri Nath Ji Temple in Nathdwara, approximately 48 kilometers from Udaipur, is a noteworthy sacrosanct site of Pushti Marg sect of Vaishnavism, among
the others. The temple originated in the 17th century when the holy image of Shri Krishna (Shri Nath Ji) was transported to this place from Vrindavan
during the Mughal era for safety.
Historically, the temple was established to honor Shri Nathji, a manifestation of Krishna as a child with his left arm raised, which is a form particularly worshiped by followers of the Pushtimarg tradition.
The worship of the temple is characterized by its fun and unique style in which Shri Nath Ji is treated as a living child, with eight daily darshans
(Ashtayam Seva) representing different moments of Krishna’s day. Devotees and tourists come to Shri Nath Ji Temple mainly for the profound
spiritual significance of the temple, the splendidly adorned darshans, and the lively atmosphere of devotion, thus it is one of the most sought-after
religious and cultural destinations around Udaipur.
