The Gangaur Festival, a symbol of Mewar’s culture and folk traditions, will once again be celebrated with great enthusiasm this year. A series of colorful programs will take place in the city from March 21 to 23.

On March 21 at 4 PM, the historic Gangaur procession will begin from Ghantaghar. Featuring traditional attire, live tableaux, and folk dancers, it will pass through Delhi Gate and Bada Bazaar, reaching Gangaur Ghat by 6 PM. From 6 to 7 PM, a royal Gangaur boat ride will take place on Lake Pichola. Decorated boats departing from Bansi Ghat will arrive at the ghat, where they will be welcomed with a traditional lake aarti. After that, from 7 PM, folk dances and traditional musical performances will be held at Gangaur Ghat, followed by a fireworks display lighting up the night.

The event is being hosted by the Tourism Department and the District Administration. As part of the celebrations, on March 22 from 7 PM, a cultural evening will be held at Gangaur Ghat along with a unique competition for foreign tourists titled “Best Dressed Couple in Rajasthani Attire.”
As every year, many international visitors are expected to participate wearing traditional turbans, odhnis, and Ghagra-cholis. In the competition, the first prize winner will receive a lunch, dinner voucher at Lake Palace, the second winner at Leela Palace, and the third at Lalit Laxmi Vilas.

Additionally, in the Gangaur procession competition, winners will be awarded cash prizes:

• Second Prize: ₹21,000
• Third Prize: ₹15,000
Meanwhile, a Rural Gangaur Fair will be organized in Gogunda from March 21 to 23. Located about 40 km from Udaipur, this fair will showcase rural culture through folk performances, village art platforms, handicrafts, local markets, and traditional rural processions offering tourists an authentic glimpse of village life. This three day festival, celebrated in both urban and rural areas, highlights the rich cultural identity of Mewar.
