Vaishno devi
The Vaishno Devi Temple in udaipur is one of the prominent Shakti temples consecrated to the goddess Vaishno Devi of the Chouhan Rajputs, the deity of power, protection,
and fidelity. The temple was built in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s by the devotees of the area along with various religious trusts inspired by the
original Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu. The main purpose of building the temple was to provide the Mewari region devotees with an accessible
place to worship the Goddess rather than undertaking the long and difficult pilgrimage to the Himalayas.
Although it is of modern origin, the temple still practices the traditional vaishnav and shakti worship methods such as aartis, bhajans, and Navratri
festivals. Gradually it has been developed into a significant spiritual center for Udaipur backed by community faith. The temple pilgrims ask for
blessings of power, peace, and the granting of wishes, whereas, on the other hand, the tourists witness the city’s living religious culture and the
deep devotion that keeps on shaping Udaipur’s spiritual landscape.
