Ahar museum
The Ahar Museum is situated in the historic town of Ahar, which was the very first capital of Mewar before Udaipur came up.
This place is very ancient, and its history goes back to the 10th century and it later on turned into a royal cremation ground for the Mewar kings.
The rulers of Mewar were so important that eventually over 370 cenotaphs (chhatris) were constructed here, thus declaring it one of the most significant
heritage sites in the The museum is a depository of ancient relics like sculptures, inscriptions, metal objects, and artifacts which tell the story of the art,
culture, and the religious practices of the Mewar of the early times. Tourists make a trip to Ahar Museum to delve into the royal past, get amazed by
the intricately carved chhatris, and also to have a better grasp of Udaipur’s history which is not limited to its palaces and lakes.
