Udaipur has once again brought pride to Rajasthan by earning national recognition as one of India’s safest destinations for solo women travelers during the 2026 monsoon season. In a list of the 15 Safest Monsoon Destinations in India, Udaipur secured the 5th position.

Thanks to its safe environment, well-developed tourism infrastructure, and renowned hospitality, Udaipur has become one of the top choices for women traveling alone. Tourism experts believe this recognition is likely to attract a higher number of female visitors during the upcoming monsoon season.

The ranking was based on several key factors, including women’s safety, road connectivity, tourism facilities, and the supportiveness of local residents. The study also analyzed reviews from leading travel websites, Google Reviews, and authentic experiences shared by women who had previously visited these destinations.

The report evaluated destinations on five major parameters:

  • Police-verified tourist zones
  • Safe, all-weather road connectivity
  • Quality of hotels and homestays
  • Active local support networks for travelers
  • Low landslide risk between 2022 and 2025

Udaipur performed exceptionally well across all these benchmarks.

The list was topped by Coorg (Karnataka) in first place and Munnar (Kerala) in second. While these South Indian hill stations are famous for their lush landscapes and heavy monsoon rainfall, Udaipur stands out for its unique blend of historic lakes, royal palaces, and traditional Rajput hospitality.

Unlike many southern monsoon destinations, where heavy rainfall and dense forests can make solo travel more challenging, Udaipur offers excellent connectivity, strong urban safety measures, and reliable tourist assistance, making it a more accessible and secure choice for solo female travelers.

Rajesh Agrawal, President of the Hotel Association, described the ranking as a proud moment for Udaipur’s tourism industry. He said the association works closely with the police to ensure the safety and comfort of women staying in hotels and homestays. He also expects growing demand for women-only tour packages and customized services for female travelers, which could generate more local employment opportunities.

Several factors contributed to Udaipur’s achievement. The city has regular police patrolling, a dedicated tourist police force, and tourist help desks that enhance visitors’ sense of security. Safe hotels and homestays, reliable app-based taxis and auto-rickshaws, and the warm, welcoming attitude of local residents further strengthen its reputation. Well-lit tourist areas and multilingual guides also make women travelers feel more confident and comfortable.

Shikha Saxena, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, said that Udaipur becomes even more enchanting during the monsoon. The Aravalli Hills are covered in clouds, lush greenery spreads across the region, and lakes such as Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, and Udai Sagar Lake create breathtaking scenery. The valleys around Sajjangarh become especially picturesque during this season.

She also noted that monsoon is relatively less crowded, and hotel and homestay prices typically drop by 30–50%, making Udaipur an affordable, comfortable, and safe destination for solo women travelers.
